Three routes exist because players do not start with the same football level, location, family resources or development needs.
NEXTGEN uses three primary player routes so the pathway can fit the player rather than forcing every applicant into one model.
1. European Academy Pathway
The self funded route is for players and families able to invest in a defined football academy programme. NEXTGEN’s current focus is Spain and the United Kingdom. The family pays for programme services described in writing, not for a guaranteed professional contract or club selection.
2. NEXTGEN Africa Team
The Africa Team is a selected development route for African players who need consistent coaching, matches, evidence and evaluation before an international opportunity is realistic.
3. Sponsored Academy Pathway
The sponsored route can support exceptional players who have the football ability and mindset to progress but cannot reasonably fund the opportunity. Support depends on sporting fit, behaviour, safeguarding, genuine financial need and available sponsor or donor funding.

What happens after an application
NEXTGEN first reviews the player profile and football evidence. A deeper review can then consider eligibility, mindset, family circumstances, funding and whether a specific programme is suitable. The outcome may be a route recommendation, a request for more evidence or an honest decision that the player is not ready yet.
