Adaptation in a professional environment
During the assessment period, he trained in the Marbella area and experienced a professional first team environment. The key question was whether his game, mentality and physical profile could translate to senior football in Spain.
Serious interest from CP Mijas-Las Lagunas
When CP Mijas-Las Lagunas showed firm interest, the process moved from assessment to a real opportunity. Rather than keeping him in Spain without the correct status, he returned to Ghana while the immigration, transfer and work authorisation steps for a senior contract were handled.
First season in Tercera Federación
Kubi joined CP Mijas-Las Lagunas for the 2025/26 season. Mijas Comunicación reported his arrival as an 18 year old Ghanaian player coming through NEXTGEN Foundation to strengthen the club’s Tercera Federación squad.
Promotion to Segunda Federación
His first senior season ended with CP Mijas-Las Lagunas earning historic promotion to Segunda Federación, marking another important step in his senior football journey in Spain.
What this journey demonstrates
A pathway should become more serious as the evidence becomes stronger. Kubi was assessed first, returned home when necessary, and only moved into a contract process once the club interest and legal route were real.
